"...there is no higher calling than being a public school teacher..."

In an effort to debunk misconceptions and negative perceptions about public schools in America, NPR's StoryCorp project (designed to document an oral history of the country) has launched The National Teachers Initiative. "I think there is no higher calling than being a public school teacher in this country," said StoryCorps founder Dave Isay. "Teachers are feeling under attack and underappreciated. We want to do our part over the next year to turn that around."

What better way to document our country's oral history than through interviews with the people who are educating the future leaders of our nation? We can't wait to hear who they talk to in Nebraska.
