In an effort to debunk misconceptions and
negative perceptions about public schools in America, NPR's StoryCorp project
(designed to document an oral history of the country) has launched The National
Teachers Initiative. "I think there is no higher calling than being a
public school teacher in this country," said StoryCorps founder Dave Isay.
"Teachers are feeling under attack and underappreciated. We want to do our
part over the next year to turn that around."
What better way to document our country's oral history than through interviews
with the people who are educating the future leaders of our nation? We can't wait
to hear who they talk to in Nebraska.
